Application of Circular Staplers in Laparoscopic Surgery
A circular stapler is a mechanical instrument designed to connect or rejoin two tubular sections of tissue, such as the intestine, rectum, or esophagus. In this process, known as anastomosis, the stapler places rows of fine metal staples to connect the two ends of tissue while simultaneously cutting away excess tissue between them, reconstructing the passage through the organ uniformly and helping prevent leakage.
Simply put, a circular stapler performs the same task that surgeons previously carried out manually using sutures and considerable time, but with greater precision, in much less time, and with lower risk.
In laparoscopic surgery, the use of high-quality staplers not only increases surgical efficiency but also helps prevent serious complications such as anastomotic leakage, bleeding, and postoperative infection.
