Antimicrobial HydroBalance Dressing (Suprasorb X + PHMB)

Lohmann & Rauscher Suprasorb X + PHMB antimicrobial HydroBalance dressing provides effective action against a broad spectrum of pathogens, including MRSA and VRE. In vitro studies show that within 24 hours, polyhexanide, also known as PHMB, is rapidly and completely released from the dressing.
In this dressing, the unique structure of the biosynthetic HydroBalance fibers allows it, depending on the condition of the wound, either to retain moisture or absorb excess exudate. This feature helps maintain a moist wound environment and therefore reduces patient pain.
The structure of the Suprasorb X + PHMB dressing allows it to easily conform to wounds of any type and depth. Areas of the body that are difficult to dress can also be treated easily.
Excess wound exudate is absorbed into the dressing (A).
Moisture is transferred from the dressing to areas of the wound with low moisture levels (B).
The release of polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) eliminates microorganisms (C).

1- Clean the wound according to hygiene guidelines. Then gently pat the area around the wound dry using a sterile pad.

2- Place the Suprasorb X + PHMB HydroBalance Polyhexanide dressing on the wound and cover the entire wound surface. If using the Suprasorb X + PHMB HydroBalance Polyhexanide ribbon, fold it several times and place it loosely inside the wound.

3- Depending on the amount of wound exudate, apply an appropriate secondary dressing over the dressing already in place.

Care of superficial or deep wounds that are infected or at risk of infection, with low to moderate levels of exudate.

Arterial and venous ulcers
Diabetic ulcers
Pressure ulcers
Superficial wounds caused by second-degree burns
Surgical wounds
Skin graft donor sites
Abrasions and lacerations

Suprasorb X + PHMB antimicrobial HydroBalance dressing or ribbon is used for the treatment or management of infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection.

If the wound is infected, dressing the wound cannot be the only therapeutic measure; according to the physician`s diagnosis and clinical protocols, it should be accompanied by appropriate medication therapy.
Contact your physician if any of the following symptoms occur:

Change in the color or odor of the wound
Wound healing process has stopped
Signs of infection

Dressing changes:

Suprasorb X + PHMB antimicrobial HydroBalance dressing should be changed according to the physician’s recommendation and the condition of the wound.
If the dressing has dried and you want to remove it from the wound, moisten the dressing for at least 10 minutes before removal.
