The hemorrhoidal circular stapler is used to treat grade II-IV internal hemorrhoids in the Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids-PPH (PPH surgery). The procedure involves circular resection of 15 to 20 mm of rectal mucosa above the dentate line, together with a Side-to-Side anastomosis of the mucosa. As the rectal mucosa is shortened by 15 to 20 mm, the prolapsed anal tissue is pulled back into the rectal wall and the condition is corrected. PPH surgery is performed very quickly, causes minimal postoperative pain, and allows recovery in the shortest possible time, making it beneficial for both the surgeon and the patient.
In some patients, internal hemorrhoids are accompanied by obstructed defecation syndrome. In such cases, the hemorrhoidal circular stapler is used for Stapled Transanal Rectal Resection-STARR (rectal resection), which can treat underlying conditions associated with obstructed defecation syndrome, such as rectocele, internal rectal intussusception, rectal mucosal prolapse, and other pathological changes in the lower rectum, thereby helping to treat both constipation and internal hemorrhoids.
Considering surgeons’ need for an efficient instrument for PPH and STARR procedures, GoldenStapler completely redesigned the hemorrhoidal circular stapler and developed an instrument suitable for both procedures. Taking the anatomical characteristics of the anus and rectum into account, the PPH36 stapler was designed. Compared with the PPH03 stapler, its staple housing capacity has been increased by up to 11 times and the anastomosis diameter by up to 27%, making the GoldenStapler hemorrhoidal circular stapler an excellent product for PPH and STARR surgery.
