The carbon or activated charcoal dressing (Vliwaktiv) is used to absorb wound exudate and reduce unpleasant wound odor. This dressing can be used on infected wounds as a secondary dressing, in combination with a suitable wound filler or primary dressing with antimicrobial properties. The carbon dressing significantly reduces the unpleasant odor of wound exudate and is therefore widely used.
