Gel-Forming Dressing (Lomatuell Pro)
Lohmann & Rauscher gel-forming dressing is a flexible, non-adherent wound dressing that is placed in contact with the wound. Due to its mesh structure and high transfer capacity, it easily directs wound exudate toward the secondary dressing.
Lomatuell Pro gel-forming dressing consists of a synthetic mesh impregnated with a polymer matrix containing lipids and hydrocolloids. When the hydrocolloid particles come into contact with wound exudate, they form a gel. This gel creates an amphiphilic (hydrophilic-lipophilic) layer together with petrolatum.
This dressing does not adhere to the wound and helps promote faster healing. Lomatuell Pro gel-forming dressing can be used in negative pressure wound therapy (for superficial wounds) and during all stages of wound exudation. The dressing can be applied to the wound from either side and can be cut to fit the size and shape of different areas of the body.
The dressing should be changed after 2 to 4 days. Depending on the type of wound and its healing progress, however, the dressing may be left in place for a shorter or longer period, up to a maximum of 7 days.
